What happened
Patrick Buchta, our Executive Director, makes an explicit point: when advocacy “wins” like the Live Music Fund or the $200 pay rate pass, that’s not the finish line—it’s the starting line.
ATXM continues to:
Monitor the Live Music Fund rollout and gather detailed feedback from the community.
Flag implementation problems and bring them back to city staff.
Push for clearer contract language around fair pay.
Educate musicians on how to access grants and what they’re entitled to.
They’re also working on:
Collecting reviews and testimonials from musicians ATXM has helped (e.g., unemployment benefits, grant success, relief funds).
Running surveys and feedback loops after educational events (e.g., Master Classes) to refine programming based on what musicians actually ask for.
Where advocacy shows up
Serving as a constant, informed voice at city tables and commissions.
Holding agencies accountable when programs drift from their intent.

Translating complex policies into clear instructions and best practices.
Using surveys, polls, and feedback reports to design better training and resources.

Keeps funds landing where they’re supposed to: in musicians’ pockets and in venues’ operating budgets.
Increases grant utilization and reduces “lost” opportunities due to confusion or red tape.
